National Intangible Cultural Property No.6

Tongyeong City is located in the southern part of Tongyeong Peninsula, which protrudes from the center of the southern coast of Korea. Ogwangdae was formed based on the growth of the city in the late Joseon Dynasty. It is called Ogwangdae because it danced the Obangsinjaengmu, a ritual dance of exorcism that combines the five elements and the five directions.

Tongyeong Ogwangdae is characterized by its large Malttugi mask. It reflects the desire of the people to break free from the oppression of reality, and at the same time expresses dissatisfaction with the existing system.
