National Intangible Cultural Property No.69

Recognized as National Treasure No. 121, Hahoe Tal dates back to the mid-Goryeo period. The Hahoe Byeolsin Gut, a shamanistic ritual, takes place approximately once every ten years, usually during Lunar New Year’s Day or other special occasions. This ceremony is a symbolic act of reverence towards the village deities, invoking blessings of abundance and prosperity. Following the ritual, the talnori (mask dance) unfolds, comprising a total of ten distinct episodes.
