Gasan Ogwangdae

Gasan-ri, Chukdong-myeon, Sacheon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do
National Intangible Cultural Property No.73

This is a branch of Jinju Ogwangdae and is known to be an older form than Tongyeong or Goseong Ogwangdae. Every Lunar New Year’s Day, a village ritual was held at the village shrine, the sacred tree, and eight stone statues. From the second day to the daytime of the fifteenth day, the villagers visited each house and performed jisinbapgi (a ritual to ward off evil spirits), and then burnt sheaves of straw at night and celebrated a festival.
